Beeler in the U-TGlae Thien wrote a nice article about sophomore Sam Beeler in Sunday's U-T. (This article only appears online, it does not appear in print.)Playoff seedingWe are the #8 seed, we will play at home Tuesday 7pm against #9 Hilltop. Here's the boys bracket, and the girls bracketCongratulations, Freshmen! The freshmen spanked El Camino on Tuesday 52-36, and then capped off their season with the 73-41 destruction of Rancho Bernardo, the textbook definition of an Epic Win. They finish 17-5 overall, and 8-2 in the Palomar League, which is good for a second-place finish. As an added bonus, every player scored against RB tonight.Recruiting FAILApparently, Christian HS failed to disclose pre-enrollment contact with one of the foreign students on their basketball team. As a result, they're forfeiting a bunch of games, giving our varsity one more win. So we're now 17-9 overall. Congratulations on the big win!Senior Night questionnaireSenior Night is Friday the 19th. We'll introduce all the senior players and cheerleaders prior to the game with Rancho Bernardo. This is the questionnaire. Thanks to all the seniors, who've all returned it! Gametime is 7:30, parents please arrive no later than 7:00pm to be sure we're all situated for the ceremony. Thanks!
Just one left...The North County Times got nice pictures of Matt Moreno and Alex Rowson rebounding to go with Terry Monahan's article on Tuesday's varsity game. The JV lost a close one. Be there early Friday for Senior Night. Game time is 7:30, but we'll recognize the seniors about 15 minutes or so before then. And then we'll tip off the season finale with Rancho Bernardo.Playoff outlookI've pulled together 22 teams in Division I competing for 16 playoff spots. There is an overall rundown and one broken down by conference. Playoff seeds will be announced late in the afternoon on Saturday February 20th at the CIF office. They'll be posted here as soon as I get them. And the North County Times now has their outlook. In: LCC, TP, Eastlake, Granite Hills, Hilltop, Vista, Poway, Escondido, Mira Mesa, RB, San Diego, El Camino. [Updated 2/17/10] Woodley XX Player of the WeekSenior Danny Woodley was named XX Radio's Student-Athlete of the week in January. Pizza's on Danny...
Bloody Hell, I Keep Forgetting...MaxPreps has been to several games we've played at Rancho Bernardo, their photographer has taken a ton of excellent pictures. There's quite a few which are frame-worthy.The example at right is called a "foul" in most other officiating jurisdictions. Perhaps next time we should send Matt's brother Ryan out in his place, he used to wrestle... Halfway DoneThe freshmen held El Camino to 12 points in the first half, coming out 50-27 winners. They finish the first half of conference play 5-0. The JV are 4-1 in league, as 3-point winners over El Camino on Tuesday. (I don't have that final score yet.) The varsity is 3-2 in a league and a division which remain very competitive this year. They lost to El Camino 66-59. Terry Monahan was there for the North County Times to document the carnage
Press clippingsSam Beeler was named Athlete of the Week in both the North County Times and the Union-Tribune.The North County times covered the first Carlsbad game. (Tadd's picture is in the photo store gallery, too.) If you were wonderingWhat the league alignment for 2010-2011 looks like, I've posted it in the documents directory. The principals voted on a new name for the fourth league, and their choice was lame. So I've used my suggestion, since I-15 runs between the schools of the fourth league, and leads to Bat Country.
